Mahindra Duro 125
The Mahindra Duro has been removed from the company's website and is also no more in stock on Snapdeal.com where the company sells its scooters online.
Mahindra Two-Wheelers is working hard to establish its name in the market and is steadily working on a new lineup of products that will be launched over the next few years. Meanwhile, the Centuro and Gusto models primarily contribute to the company's volumes, while the older scooters from the Kinetic era continue to be poor sellers. With reports rife of Mahindra working on a new 125cc scooter expected to hit the market soon, the automaker has silently discontinued the Duro DZ 125 that was currently on sale.
The Mahindra Duro DZ has been an extremely dud seller in the 125cc space, wherein popular products easily average over 10,000 units every month. In comparison, the Duro DZ sold 89 units in May this year, while sales for the month of April, March and February stood at 0 units respectively. A dated design language and negligible promotions ensured that the scooter's sales remained dull. Most buyers do not even consider the Mahindra Duro or Rodeo in the 125cc segment.
Powering the Mahindra Duro DZ is a 124.6cc single-cylinder engine churning out 8 HP at 7000 RPM and 9 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM, paired to an automatic transmission. With the Duro having made an exit, we can expect the new 125cc scooter to come sooner. Speculations suggest that the upcoming 125cc scooter will be based on the Gusto and will rival the Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and the likes. Meanwhile, Mahindra will continue to retail the moderately selling Rodeo in the 125cc space, and is gearing up to launch the highly awaited Mojo next month.
